Garden designs
Welcome to Artesian Designs. We are available for both consultancies and contracting. If you cannot see what you are looking for below please contact us – it is our business to meet your garden needs.
Consultancy
• Introductory talk – general advice will be given on what can be achieved, services required and expected costing may be discussed.
• Main discussion and site visit – which can lead on to the following services:
• Quick sketch – this would be a pencil sketch which will clarify what has been discussed and can be part of the thinking/creative process (this is the most economical option).
• Accurate design – a working plan that is to scale. This will be essential if you are bringing in a contractor or doing your own work.
• Watercolour design – this is an artistic version of the full design and will give you a better understanding of how the site will look. When framed, a water colour design may be a beautiful addition to your wall.
• Planting scheme – advice can be provided on the plants that are most suitable for the conditions of your garden and best match your aesthetic/personal preferences (soil testing may be necessary).
• Costings – calculated according to the consultancy services required (notification of the costs involved will always be agreed before tasks are undertaken).
• Contracting – having concluded a consultation we may be contracted to bring the approved designs to reality. We also offer a variety of other services. Please see below for more details.
Contracting
We recognise the individuality of each and every person and site we work with. As such, the list below provides a good idea of the services we offer but is by no means exhaustive. Please contact us to discuss any of the services mentioned or any additional ideas and we will do our best to facilitate your personal requirements.
• Project management – we can be bought in to oversee work being done by another contractor.
• Price tailoring – developing a plan which is compatible with the customer’s budget. This may need revising later in the process but all costs will be agreed before tasks are undertaken.
• Site clearance – including rubbish removals.
• Grading soil levels – this involves managing the varying heights of soil across your site for either practical or aesthetic reasons.
• Drainage facilities – vital for games areas, sights that easily get waterlogged and gardens that slope towards the house.
• Hard landscaping – including patios, rockery, walling, steps, terraces and ponds, using either natural or man made materials.
• Soil conditioning – including top dressings, use of compost and weed control.
• Plant selection – this is the same as a plant scheme but may also involve advice on existing plants.
• Pruning and garden facelifts.
• Turfing – includes advice for turf aftercare.
• Negotiated extras – continual assessment of landscape details and any unforeseen extra adjustments (costs to be discussed and agreed).
